Feature & Follow Friday: That Ending SuCks.....CHANGE IT!!!

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison ofAlison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

Today's Question/Topic:

Change the plot. If you could, what book would you change the ending or a plot thread? Go ahead and do it....... Change it!!

This is an easy one for me.....

By: Veronica Roth

The whole Divergent series was awesome until this final book! I would change the plot and the ending!! I hated how Veronica Roth decided after 2 books she was going to write both of the character's points of view, making the whole story one big mess. The world building was lacking, the characterization....lacking!  It was repetitive and extremely slow (boring)......
The ending....Geeeezzzzzuz!!! You know I wasn't really that distressed about "THE" ending, although, the way it happened, why it happened and the character's reactions to it~ Yes! That would all be changed!!! I just really thought I would get a better explanation behind everything and some romance for goodness sake's! Two books leading you to believe that finally somethings gonna happen. WASTE!!!

I know some readers will agree and would change a lot about Allegiant and some readers are really content with it and wouldn't change a thing.
"To each his own"
What about y'all? What books would you like to change to plot/ending too?
Til then.....

Today's Quotable Quote is from The Museum of Extraordinary Things By Alice Hoffman

Quotable Thursdays is a bookish meme hosted by Mo_Books, where you share a great quote or two from any book and explain why you chose it. (Make sure when choosing your quote, it's one that does share anything that will spoil the story for others)

Today's book is one that came out just recently. It caught my eye while I was at the book store, the cover did, not the price ($27.99) LOL!!
I was fascinated by it's brief description, so I immediately went to my local library and Voila! They have the book there. One was checked out and the other....left for me :) As soon as I started reading it I was quickly captivated and mesmerized by how whimsical the writing was. The story seems to be a bit dark and eerie because of it's topic but it has an all around magical feel to it. I'm excited to read on.

This is a bit longer than what I usually post for quotes but I could not resist:

"My father called them wonders, but to the world they were freaks. They hid their features so that there would be no stones flung, no sheriff's men called in, no children crying out in terror and surprise. In the streets of New York they were considered abominations, and because there were no laws to protect them, they were often ill used. I hoped that on our porch, beneath the shade of the pear tree, they would find some peace."

The reason why I wanted to share this is because it shows a glimmer of what these people, who are a part of the "museum", endure pretty much daily. Not just in this fictional story but in the real world things like this happen everyday. Every human being on this earth is different. We all have something special about us in our own unique way. When people judge or make fun of another human being, they're just making fun of and hurting themselves!

"To each his own"

By: Alice Hoffman
Publication Date: Feb. 18th, 2014

Mesmerizing and illuminating, Alice Hoffman's The Museum of Extraordinary Things is the story of an electric and impassioned love between two vastly different souls in New York during the volatile first decades of the twentieth century.

Coralie Sardie is the daughter of the sinister impresario behind The Museum of Extraordinary Things, a Coney Island boardwalk freak show that thrills the masses. An exceptional swimmer, Coralie appears as the Mermaid in her father's "museum", alongside performers like the Wolfman, the Butterfly Girl, and a one-hundred-year-old turtle. One night Coralie stumbles upon a striking young man taking pictures of moonlit trees in the woods off the Hudson River. The dashing photographer is Eddie Cohen, a Russian immigrant who has run away from his father's Lower East Side Orthodox community and his job as a tailor' apprentice. When Eddie photographs the devastation on the streets of New York following the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, he becomes embroiled in the suspicious mystery behind a young woman's disappearance and ignites the heart of Coralie.

With its colorful crowds of bootleggers, heiresses, thugs, and idealists, New York itself becomes a riveting character as Hoffman weaves her trademark magic, romance, and masterful storytelling to unite Coralie and Eddie in a sizzling, tender, and moving story of young love in tumultuous times. The Museum of Extraordinary Things is Alice Hoffman at her most spellbinding.

So far I'm enjoying this book. Hopefully my love for it will continue til the end!! Next time I'll have a full review for you guys.
Til then.....

HAPPY READING Y'ALL!!

Waiting on Wednesday ~ Snow Like Ashes

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by Breaking the Spine,
that showcase upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

Today's books is:

By: Sara Raasch
Expected Release Date: October 14th, 2014

A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

Ummmm....YES PLEASE!!! For those of you who are familiar with my blog and I, by now you should know that I am a HUGE fan of High/Epic Fantasy!! Some of my favorites being The Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta and Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I just love anything to do with distant lands ruled by Kings and Queens, Kingdoms engaging in brutal battles, Kickass heroines/heroes and a hint of magic thrown in the mix! That's my kind of story!

This book seems to have all of that going on, Adventure and Romance, loyalty and betrayal. I'm hoping for a thrilling, page-turning debut! At least this book has a beautiful cover I can gaze at while waiting for it's arrival....in October...like 7 months away...OH! MY! GOSH!!!! WHHHHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

Hope y'all add this one to your TBR list. I know I'll be looking at all the W.o.W's today adding more books to mine.
Til next time.....
HAPPY READING Y'ALL!!!!

Better Late than No Update :) Stackin the Shelves

What's new on my shelves?

Books I got in the mail, borrowed from the library/friends or digital book buys....

Okay so I took this weekend off from blogging , which is pretty abnormal from my usual blogging everyday routine. My best friend came down from Virginia so I had to show her a good time.
So I'm here today just to share with everyone what books I got this weekend.

My Stacking the Shelves is a little late this week but better late than no update, RIGHT Y'ALL!! lol

From the Library:

I saw this book at the book store and found it very intriguing and bizarrely enchanting! I'm really curious about this one, the price of it.... NOT SO MUCH! So I opted to check it out from the Library instead of buying it. We'll see if I like it enough to purchase it in the future~~

With her black hair, red lips, and lily-white skin, Summer is as beautiful as her father's garden. And her life in the mountains of West Virginia seems like a fairy tale; her parents sing and dance with her, Cousin Nancy dotes on her, and she is about to get a new baby brother. But when the baby dies soon after he's born, taking Summer's mama with him, Summer's fairy-tale life turns grim. Things get even worse when her father marries a woman who brings poisons and magical mirrors into Summer's world. Stepmama puts up a pretty face, but Summer suspects she's up to no good - and is afraid she's powerless to stop her.

This book was chosen for a challenge on Goodreads. Our group will be reading it soon, which I'm excited about. I've had my eye on it for a while! We'll see....

Elantris was the capital of Arelon: gigantic, beautiful, literally radiant, filled with benevolent beings who used their powerful magical abilities for the benefit of all. Yet each of these demigods was once an ordinary person until touched by the mysterious transforming power of the Shaod. Ten years ago, without warning, the magic failed. Elantrians became wizened, leper-like, powerless creatures, and Elantris itself dark, filthy, and crumbling.

Arelon's new capital, Kae, crouches in the shadow of Elantris. Princess Sarene of Teod arrives for a marriage of state with Crown Prince Raoden, hoping -- based on their correspondence -- to also find love. She finds instead that Raoden has died and she is considered his widow. Both Teod and Arelon are under threat as the last remaining holdouts against the imperial ambitions of the ruthless religious fanatics of Fjordell. So Sarene decides to use her new status to counter the machinations of Hrathen, a Fjordell high priest who has come to Kae to convert Arelon and claim it for his emperor and his god.

But neither Sarene nor Hrathen suspect the truth about Prince Raoden. Stricken by the same curse that ruined Elantris, Raoden was secretly exiled by his father to the dark city. His struggle to help the wretches trapped there begins a series of events that will bring hope to Arelon, and perhaps reveal the secret of Elantris itself.

I've heard a lot of great things about this author. I've already got one of his other popular books, called Mistborn, so I figured it would hurt to have this one either. Especially when it was on sale for only $2 bucks!

Love, power, and magic collide with war in the second book of the Falling Kingdoms series

Auranos has fallen and the three kingdoms—Auranos, Limeros, and Paelsia—are now united as one country called Mytica. But still, magic beckons, and with it the chance to rule not just Mytica, but the world...

This is a sequel to Falling Kingdom so I don't want to say to much about this book for those who haven't read the first book yet. (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!) This series is becoming one of my favorites. For those who LOVE high/epic fantasy, you will truly enjoy these books! I soon as I was done with Falling Kingdoms I went straight to the book store to purchase this one. I couldn't wait to have it in my hands! I am, however, going to wait to read it until it gets closer to book 3's release at the end of this year.
